When We Please God

Please God by faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and was raised from the dead. That is the good news known as the gospel of Christ. God is well pleased with His Son (Matthew 3:17). Please God believing in His only begotten Son (John 3:16).

The only way we can ever please God is by faith in Christ. Our faith is evidence that God is working in us through Jesus Christ (Hebrews 13:20-21). "But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is" (Hebrews 11:6).

Please God by grace through faith. The grace of God is the gift of God, freely given to us through faith in Christ. "For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8).

Please God through faith as an abiding gift of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 13:13). "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17). Therefore, faith comes to us as the gift of God, by the Spirit of God, through the word of God.

Faith that pleases God is not just mental assent nor human effort. It is a result of the Holy Spirit bringing us to a point of confidence, assurance, and trust in God through Christ. He is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). We can please God by grace through faith in Christ.
