How Grace Saves You

Grace saves you in Christ, and not your works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Grace changes your heart to have a personal relationship with Christ. God's grace changes your heart, which is the mind, will, and emotions. Your mind is enlightened. Your will is freed. Your emotions are touched by the love of God.

God's grace never forces you to believe in Christ. Grace works in and through your will, but never to do violence to your will (Philippians 2:13). Without God's grace, your will is in bondage to sin and unable to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace enables you to repent and believe. "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you both to will and do for His good pleasure" (Philippians 2:12-13). You do not work for your salvation. You work out what God works in you, and that is grace.

Grace enables you to freely repent and come to Christ by faith. It is all of grace (Ephesians 2:5, 8-10). Grace alone is the way God initiates your salvation. You are prepared by grace alone to respond freely. Now, you may testify, "But I am what I am by the grace of God, and His grace toward me was not in vain" (1 Corinthians 15:10). That's how grace saves you.
