Pentecost Exalted Jesus

A.W. Tozer wrote, "When we come to this important Scripture, the second chapter of Acts, I want us to consider something that is so often overlooked - the fact that whenever Jesus is glorified, the Holy Spirit comes. Contrary to what most people unintentionally assume, the important thing here was not that the Spirit had come. The important thing was that Jesus had been exalted."

The Day of Pentecost did not exalt the Spirit, but the Holy Spirit exalted the risen Christ. The great outpouring of the Holy Spirit was the work of the living Christ. Pentecostal power declared Jesus is risen indeed!  The Holy Spirit exalted the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus promised those early disciples that He would empower them with the Holy Spirit to witness for him (Acts 1:8). That's exactly what happened on the Day of Pentecost. They witnessed the work of the Holy Spirit drawing people to Christ from many different nations. Pentecost was the Holy Spirit exalting Jesus our Lord.

On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit exalted Jesus Christ through preaching. The apostle Peter preached a sermon about Christ from the Old Testament Scripture and declared the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Pentecost was the witness of the Holy Spirit to the truth of Jesus Christ. Pentecost was the Lord Jesus Christ exalted through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
