"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). Your salvation is in Christ. If you are in Christ, it's the work of the Holy Spirit. You have become a new creation.
In the beginning, God created all things through the Word and the Spirit (John 1:1-3; Genesis 1:2). In salvation God creates you anew in Christ, through the Word and the Spirit. Christ is the Word who became flesh (John 1:14). He became flesh to shed His blood for your salvation. His blood sacrifice takes away all your sins (1 John 1:7).
If you are in Christ, then you are a new creation. You hear the Gospel of Christ through the written word about the living Word (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). The Holy Spirit, who inspired the written word, makes the Gospel of Christ the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes (Romans 1:16-17). God creates you anew in union with Christ.
If you are in Christ, you have three abiding gifts of the Holy Spirit. They are faith, hope and love (1 Corinthians 13:13). Your faith is in the Gospel of Christ. Your hope in Christ is glorification at his return (Romans 8:30). Love in Christ is your bond of union with him forever (Romans 8:38-39).
