The Bible tells us to make your call and election sure (2 Peter 1:10). By faith in Christ your call and election is made sure. The Holy Spirit gives you the assurance of faith, as you confess Jesus is Lord. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:16). As a result, you confess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
By grace through faith in Jesus Christ your election is made sure. God's salvation for believers is simple, plain, and sure. Believe and confess faith in God the Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).
You believed in Christ when the Holy Spirit did something within you. No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:3). The Holy Spirit leads you to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. He is your Lord by the gracious work of the Holy Spirit in your heart.
With the mouth, we confess what is in our hearts. The word confess means to speak the same thing. We speak the same thing that is in God's Word, that which the Holy Spirit has worked in our hearts. Our confession that "Jesus is Lord" is our agreement with the Spirit of God and the Word of God. Your call and election is made sure in Christ alone.
