Who wants to live for Christ? Obviously, not everyone wants to live for Christ, but there will be some who do. The apostle Paul spoke of them in the Bible. "Therefore as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering" (Col. 3:12).
Born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are the elect of God. They are holy, which means they are set apart as God's people in Christ, by the blood of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Christians are not perfect, just forgiven. "Christ forgave you" (Col. 3:13).
How can we live for Christ? Believers cannot live for Christ by their own power and strength. To the contrary, we are dependent on the Spirit of Christ within us (Romans 8:9). That is the fruit of the Holy Spirit within us (Gal. 5:22-23). Jesus said, "Therefore by their fruits you will know them" (Matt. 7:20). That includes kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, which is patience. And, the first fruit is love.
Why do we live for Christ? The answer is simple and clear in the Bible. Believers are beloved of God in Christ. "We love Him because He first loved us" (1 John 4:19). We are so thankful for His love for us. The love of God in Christ has changed our hearts and lives. "But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection" (Col. 3:14). Our bond with God is perfect love in Christ.
