Redemption is through the everlasting covenant of our Lord Jesus Christ (Hebrews 13:20-21). The word redemption means to pay the price to set prisoners free. The blood of Jesus was shed to set every believer free from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13). The sin debt of every believer was paid in the blood of Jesus at the cross (1 John 1:7).
Redemption is through the everlasting covenant, by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Faith is an abiding gift of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 13:13). Faith is received by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17). The everlasting covenant gives believers eternal life in Christ (Romans 6:23).
Covenant is a contract or binding agreement between two or more parties. Promises are made and guaranteed through covenant. In Bible days covenants were made based upon the shed blood of a sacrificial animal. God's covenant of redemption with believers is based upon the sacrifice of Jesus at the cross. In the eternal plan of God, Christ is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8).
Redemption is by grace through faith in Christ. It is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8-9). God's covenant is effective through the finished work of Christ at the cross (2 Corinthians 5:21). It is received through faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 10:9).
