How God Changes You

God changes you through the Gospel of Christ. What happens when God changes your heart? The heart is an expression of your inner person. That's the mind, will, and emotions. The Spirit of God changes your heart, when Jesus becomes your Lord (Romans 10:9). A change of heart enables you to know God in a very personal way.

God changes your mind. God renews your mind to understand spiritual things that are taught in the Bible, "by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:2). The Spirit of God is your teacher, giving you more and more understanding through the Bible.

God changes your will. God "works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13). You are then willing to do God's will, with a desire to serve Him and minister to others for His glory. You become a doer of the word and not a hearer only (James 1:22).

God changes your emotions. You then have a godly sorrow for your sins. You are moved with compassion to help others. Perhaps you will feel a burden to pray for someone. Remember that God does the work in your heart, and that includes your emotions.
