Your Faith in Christ

Charles Spurgeon wrote, "My faith rests not upon what I am or shall be or feel or know, but in what Christ is, in what He has done, and in what He is now doing for me. Hallelujah!"

Faith in Christ means you do not trust in self-righteousness. By faith alone you rest in the righteousness of Christ alone (2 Corinthians 5:21). He is our righteousness. The righteousness of God in Christ  is where our faith should rest.

Spurgeon was resting "in what Christ is, in what He has done, and in what He is now doing." That's our faith resting in Christ alone. Jesus says to you, "Come unto me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).

Faith resting in Christ is confidence and assurance of salvation. Faith is resting in Christ as our Surety (Hebrews 7:22). Faith is resting in Christ as our guarantee of eternal salvation. He alone is the assurance of our salvation.

Faith in Christ is through the gospel. Confess, "I am a sinner for whom Christ died." Focus your faith upon Christ crucified for your sins and risen from the dead (Romans 10:9). No self-righteousness do you claim. You rest by faith that Christ died for all your sins. You believe that he is risen from the dead as your living Lord.
