Christ Our Mediator

A mediator brings two parties together who are in disagreement. God's disagreement with us is one issue alone. That is our sin. There is only one Mediator with God. Jesus Christ is the Mediator of the everlasting covenant."For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all to be testified in due time" (1 Timothy 2:5-6).

Christ is the believer's only Mediator of the everlasting covenant. He works in every believer to do what is pleasing to God (Hebrews 13:20-21). God the Father is well pleased in His only begotten Son. We can only please God when His Son Jesus works in us and through us to the praise of His glory.

Jesus Christ is the believer's only Mediator in the threefold offices of Prophet, Priest and King. As our Prophet, He represents God to us, declaring the Word of God. He is the Word made flesh (John 1:14). As our High Priest, Jesus represents believers to God. He ever lives to make intercession for us (Hebrews 7:23-25). As our Lord, Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords. Believers are saved, knowing and confessing Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9).

God the Father gave His Son as the believer's only Mediator to bring His mercy, grace and love to us (John 3:16; Acts 4:12). Those who reject the Lord Jesus Christ are rejecting God's mercy, grace and love. Jesus is our only Mediator between God and believers, because He alone is the God-Man, fully God and fully man, incarnate deity.
